About The grand hotels of Paris: the back story

The grand hotels of Paris gather in a few famous addresses. On the Right Bank, the Ritz Paris and the Park Hyatt look onto the Place Vendôme, the Hôtel de Crillon onto the Place de la Concorde, and Le Meurice onto the Tuileries from the rue de Rivoli. In the Golden Triangle, between the Champs-Élysées and the Seine, stand the Four Seasons Hotel George V, the Plaza Athénée on the avenue Montaigne, Le Bristol on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré and La Réserve on the avenue Gabriel. Cheval Blanc Paris looks over the Pont Neuf from the old Samaritaine building, and across the river Saint-Germain has the Mandarin Oriental Lutetia.

On the Right Bank

The Ritz Paris is at 15 place Vendôme; its restaurant Espadon holds One MICHELIN Star in the 2026 guide. Le Meurice faces the Tuileries at 228 rue de Rivoli, with Restaurant Le Meurice Alain Ducasse (Two Stars). The Hôtel de Crillon, a Rosewood hotel, fills one of the two great palaces on the Place de la Concorde, and the Mandarin Oriental Paris is at 251 rue Saint-Honoré.

The Golden Triangle

Between the Champs-Élysées and the Seine: the Four Seasons Hotel George V at 31 avenue George-V, home of Le Cinq (Three MICHELIN Stars), L’Orangerie (Two) and Le George (One); the Plaza Athénée at 25 avenue Montaigne; Le Bristol at 112 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, with Épicure (Three Stars); and La Réserve Paris at 42 avenue Gabriel, with Le Gabriel (Three Stars). The Peninsula Paris is at 19 avenue Kléber, its rooftop L’Oiseau Blanc holding Two Stars.

You don’t need a room to enjoy them: book lunch at Le Cinq or Le Meurice, or a drink at the Bar Hemingway.

The Left Bank

The Mandarin Oriental Lutetia stands at 45 boulevard Raspail in Saint-Germain, and L’Hotel at 13 rue des Beaux-Arts.

Boutique Paris

Le Pavillon de la Reine hides behind the arcades of the Place des Vosges; Les Bains occupies a former bathhouse in the Marais; The Hoxton fills an 18th-century building on the rue du Sentier.

Our advice: for a first visit, stay between the Louvre and the Place Vendôme, or in Saint-Germain; come back for the Golden Triangle.
