Paris, from the Seine to the butte of Montmartre

Paris runs along the Seine from the Eiffel Tower to the islands of Notre-Dame, north to Montmartre and east to the Canal Saint-Martin. Here are the palace hotels and the 2026 MICHELIN stars, the cafés, bistros and bouillons, the Louvre, the Orsay and the opera houses, the parks and the quays, and day trips to Versailles, Giverny, Fontainebleau, Reims and Chantilly. We’ve checked every listing against the venue’s own website or an official source, and we leave out anything we can’t confirm.

Our advice

Book a timed slot for the Louvre (closed on Tuesdays), the Eiffel Tower on its official site and Versailles on the palace’s own website. Notre-Dame is free: reserve a slot on its own site, usually from the day before. Paris essentials
